Heath Ledger’s toxicology reports are in!

Heath Ledger and his daughter

So the results are in on what exactly caused Heath Ledger’s death, and basically he was filled with more pills than a pharmacy.  TMZ reported:

The NYC medical examiner has finished the toxicology report following the death of Heath Ledger, and has just ruled that the actor’s death was caused by “acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine.

And while I still think this is incredible sad and horrible, what do people expect when they mix 6 different types of prescription medication.  This is why there needs to be a national prescription database that would prevent over medicating.  And I don’t know about yall, but to describe a drug cocktail mix resulting in death as “acute intoxication” seems like the understatement of the year.

His father issued this statement in response to the toxicology tests:

We remain humble as parents and a family, among millions of people worldwide who may have suffered the tragic loss of a child. Few can understand the hollow, wrenching, and enduring agony parents silently suffer when a child predeceases them. Today’s results put an end to speculation, but our son’s beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts.

While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath’s accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.

Our family enjoyed an extremely happy two week visit with Heath just prior to the New Year. Those recent precious days will stay with us forever. We as a family feel privileged to have some of his amazing magic moments captured in film. To most of the world Heath was an actor of immeasurable talent and promise. To those who knew him personally, Heath was a consummate artist whose passions also included photography, music, chess and directing. We knew Heath as a loving father, as our devoted son, and as a loyal and generous brother and friend.

We treasure our beautiful granddaughter Matilda (to our dear Michelle) as well as an unbelievably wonderful network of close friends, forever, around the world. Families rarely experience the uplifting, warm and massive outpouring of grief and support as have we, from every corner of the planet. This has deeply and profoundly touched our hearts and lives. We are eternally grateful.

At this moment we respectfully request the worldwide media allow us time to grieve privately, without the intrusions associated with press and photography.

How terribly sad.  :(

Best Buy tries to sell DVD’s off the death of Heath Ledger

Just look at what Best Buy went and did! Literally hours after his death, they had printed signs up advertising Heath Ledger’s death, and reminded you to remember the actor through his work, which they had conveniently had for sale on the table right in front of their makeshift obituary.

In all honesty, this shit is disgusting, and I know if whoever was responsible for this worked for me, that ass would be fired!  I mean, when did it become couth to do such a thing?  Maybe in a few days, with a nicely printed something, but a shit sign with an even shittier cliche on the bottom is just tacky.

Like honestly, how sad does this picture make you?

Warner Brothers issues statement on Heath Ledger passing

Heath Ledger as the Joker

Warner Brothers, the company responsible for the upcoming movie Batman: The Dark Knight starring Heath Ledger has issued a statement:

“The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news. The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”

John Travolta, who happens to be in Australia at the moment, also commented, saying:

“He is one of my favorite actors. His abilities are rare…it’s a tremendous loss. It’s hard to be here celebrating Australia under these circumstances.”

 :(

Also, Heath’s family is stepping forward and saying that it was NOT suicide, and they were told by law officials it didn’t appear to be suicide. And while I hope that is true, I am not sure how a law official would know this since they haven’t down the autopsy yet. In fact, no one really knows exactly what happened right now.

Heath Ledger’s last picture ever

Heath Ledger, 28, was found dead in a New York apartment at 3:35 pm today. He was discovered face down, naked and unconscious in his bed, when a masseuse came over for a previously scheduled appointment, when there was no answer to the knocks on his door, the masseuse, along with the housekeeper entered his room. They immediately called the authorities, and paramedics announce him dead at the scene. Rumors of accidental overdoses or possible suicide have been rampant, and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

It has been reported that sleeping pills were strewn around his room, and that he suffered from a substance abuse problem. Other stories speculate at that he was sick with pneumonia, although he was seen dining with his model girlfriend Gemma Ward earlier that night. He is survived by his daughter, who is only two. He was also previously married to Michelle Williams, and divorced in September 2007.

TMZ put together a nice little timeline of Heath’s life:

— Born Heathcliff Andrew Ledger, April 4, 1979 in Perth, Australia
– Son of a French teacher and race car driver/mining engineer
– Graduated high school early at 16 and began to pursue a career in acting
– Made his first big screen splash in the US in 1999 as Patrick Verona in “10 Things I Hate About You”
– Dated Naomi Watts in 2002
– Won a ShoWest Award for the Male Star of Tomorrow based on his performance in “The Patriot”
– Named one of Australian GQ’s Men of the Year for acting, 2003
– In 2005, he received a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Actor in a Drama” for “Brokeback Mountain”
– Heath becomes engaged to Michelle Williams, whom he met on the set of “Brokeback Mountain”
– Daughter Matilda Rose born October 28, 2005
– Academy Award Best Actor nominee for his role in “Brokeback Mountain”, 2006
– Williams and Ledger split in August, 2007
– Heath found dead in NYC at the age of 28, January 22, 2008

So yeah. Wow. This is really sad, I use to have the biggest crush on him, especially in the patriot. And now I feel like a big jerk for bitching about having to go to school today because it was too freaking cold outside. Because I must say, going to lab while freezing all day is much better than being dead. :( What really sucks for him is that he didn’t even get to see himself in his (sure to be) best film ever, “The Dark Knight”, where he plays a grim Joker.

The above picture is the most recent picture of Heath, taken Saturday on the set of the new movie he was working on, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”, which was scheduled for next year.

Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams break up

Heath Ledger and baby momma Michelle Williams have decided to split up after three years of living in sin and making babies. Technically they only made one baby, but whatever. Back in the day when Heath has hot, like in The Patriot, I would have been excited about this, but since he is some creepy hippie guy who never shaves or showers, its barely news. Maybe he will get his sexy back now that he is a single man.

Hopefully for all of us, Michelle Williams will take this chance and revamp her look, because she looks like she has been preparing for an audition for the role of a vegan lesbian. Not that being vegan or lesbian is bad, its just looking like a perpetuated stereotype is lame.

UPDATE: The picture I used was just too nice to Michelle, so here is a worse better one that serves her justice!
